Watching the new last nice a great lijne from "Boris"

"It's the right kind of snow just too much of it" --Classic I see why he was voted for!

And for those who don't get it, British Rail one year ground to a halt and the reason was it "was the wrong type of snow". They had bough snow blowing machines from Scandinavia where the snow is dry and fluffy where as in the UK it's wet and heavy, unfortunately the spokesman did not engage brain before making this now classic comment.

Down here the weather is lovely best Summer in years. We've even been warmer than Aus. on our east coast. Glad I bought my zip fetish lovers summer jacket. I havn't had to ride in wet stuff at all this year and that's unusual in a semi tropical climate.

BTW: I like the pictures I've similar ones from 1991 (or there abouts) when in Basingstoke we ground to a halt with the wrong kind of snow.

Trevor, I moved here from NY and Chicago, to where I am, so I don't have deal with too cold (below 20F), too wet (75+ inches of rain), too slippery (icy roads and streets), or too heavy (snow, sleet, ice sheets falling down). Too hot and too dry, I can handle (I am using moisturizer now for cracking knuckles due to long rides, for the first time in my life), even when both are too long, but from what I see, this is just too much weather related misery and longing. Still, that's better than dangerous (like the power line that fell on my car due to an ice storm in 1977) or riding in ice/snow. The news showed so many pile-ups of cars and trucks recently all over the US.

Wow, Lux, I remember evenings like that! It makes me go brrrrrr just seeing that photo! Glad we are 70F (21C) now (7:30 PM MST) after hitting an 81F (27C) high today. Dry, too, but we have a 40% chance of rain, Saturday.

In the UK, we exterminate rats. We dont dress them up on poncy jackets and play with them in the back yard....

Still cold in the morning but, it is beginning to look like Spring is on the way.

Cloudy east of Cascade Locks...increasing clouds west. Highs in the 40s. Cascade Locks westward...east wind 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph...decreasing to 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph in the afternoon. Near Hood River...east wind 5 to 10 mph.

Today it's fine with just the occasional shower. Last night it was 5" of rain between 4pm and 7am. On Thursday Kin Kin ( a small town NW of Noosa) just about got washed away as they had about 17" in 5hrs in the headwaters of the creek out that way. I won't be riding the twisties out that way for a while as some of them are gone.

Another beautiful day on the Sunshine Coast. Yep, you guessed it, another 100mm (4"0) since this morning and it's still p!$$ing down . And yesterday, I seriously thought I might go for a quick ride today.

These photos were taken at 4pm today. That's rain, not fog. The second one, with the flash, gives a true indication of how dark it was outside.

Seems Michigan isn't quite ready to let spring make its entrance. There are a few crocuses coming up, but nighttime temps are still in the 20's F. We had a beautiful sunny weekend, but the highs were only about 50 F. Today we're back to cloudy, dreary and temps in the 40's. Maybe another few weeks ...

Well, here in the mountains of central New Mexico it snowed again over the weekend. Friday was in the low 60's F and very windy but I managed to get a couple hour ride in. Now here it is the work week and the weather is beautiful. It's still way too cold in the morning, teens and low 20's, to be commuting to work just yet so I'll have to hope for better weather on the weekends. Jealous of all you year rounders.
Seeing ourselves as others see us would probably confirm our worst suspicions about them.

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L sunshine and a nice 24C. Oh, what a wonderful ride, except for all the gravel driveways that are now spread down the roads by all the rain.
And I managed to get the lawn mowed yesterday without getting the mower bogged.

Still finishing up with my project at the house but, I'm fixing to do some fine riding Monday as I'm off for the next three days. I believe I saw an 80 degree somewhere......
I have my yard filled with trees, bushes and flowers. I left only a tiny portion with lawn that I use a weed-wacker to cut when I feel the need.

    Digging out now.

Just got 4 feet of heavy, wet snow: pine trees breaking, falling on power lines and across roads. I'm down at the Public Library now, checking my email. At home: no power, no phone, no heat, no light, no water, no refrigerator/freezer.... Glad I've got a wood stove and several gallons of water stored.

My wife had the good sense to fly to Washington, DC just before the storm hit, so it's just me and dog.

Nice today, everything's melting fast but still no word on the powerlines. Really makes you think about the luxuries you take for granted.

I went out to an Indy 500 party @ 11 AM local, with sun and 82 F (~28 C). I just came home in 90 F (~32 C) wearing a mesh jacket and m/c jeans, and it was beautiful, actually cool while moving, just warm when stopped.

Weather today in Toronto - very nice. Dropped bike off at dealer for service. Rain next few days. Then hopefully pick up bike for nice weekend - advanced rider safety training planned for the full weekend, starting with classroom Friday evening...

Nice joke, here in Athens-Greece thing are getting worst and worst day after day.

Average temperature 31C, if you make the mistake to move around with your bike between 12:00 to 18:00 you are just dead.

The first problem is that we never get a real winter here…no bike hibernation in this country. (So the bike never sleeps!)

The second problem is that 7 months out of the year the weather is perfect but we do not have enough time to ride due to “JOB”.

You see GREEKS are never happy! We always like to compain…DNA!

Zero degrees Cee here today on the ride to a BMW riders' brunch, good riding in parts but teetering around on the wet corners and where they'd gritted the road for ice.

I always though heated grips were for namby-pamby wimps, but I did a big ride last week, including 5 hours in the depths of night (with only a couple of slips on ice) and now think heated grips are the best invention since the Britten.

Will carry on riding through the winter, while the Ducati engine rebuild unfolds. However, if it's snowing or pee-ing with rain, I'll reach for the car keys - I've done my apprenticeship years of having no alternative to the bike, don't have to do that again.

We don't have much of a climate here, we just get Weather. That's because we're an island a long way from any continents (the nearest being Antarctica), so weather changes rapidly (hour to hour). Having said that, the weather is more stable in winter - we get long periods (up to 7-10 days) of fine weather, interspersed with nasty cold snaps that bring snow, rain and bloody cold wind for a few days, immediately followed by a rush to the ski-fields.

There are lots of good days of winter riding, we just need to be very ginger on the shady parts.

82 in the morning, 104 high today. As sunny and clear as could be, so the heat index for that 104 is 101.

On the road: The ride across the Great Plains was hot, but uneventful. Now in Northern Michigan: off and on showery, cool (60* F) and blustery winds. I'm hanging out in the Charlevoix Public Library right now, reading Emails, paying bills and generally wasting time.

Weather can't make up its mind & therefore me neither. A few drops of rain, black cloud, then sun. Just a few spots on the radar, but the air is ready to develop something good any minute. Ride out to get a movie or hang around the house...? Once I crack a beer, I'm grounded... Tough choice...

We are in our "winter mode" no or little ride season, as it is between 87 and 111 today and it takes 1.5 to 2 hours to get high enough out of the valley to escape the heat. Of course, picking when to come home in that heat is tricky too, so there is very little riding going on. That'll change soon.

We got slapped today. Raining down on the plains, but snowing up here in the Colorado mountains today. Roads are still just wet but there's about 2 inches of snow sticking to the grass and trees. Winter's coming in. It's not unusual for our snows to start in September- it'll warm up to 60 or 70 and be beautiful again soon (then snow again).

Doesn't matter too much to me as long as I can ride south tomorrow. I'm riding my DR650 down into Mexico for a few weeks. Plan to take some dirt back roads and go down into Copper Canyon.

    Hasta luego..............shu

74 F to 104 F today, 99 tomorrow, 65 that night and 95 Wednesday. All sunny days. I think I am going to ride to work on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, I made a joke image of the bike melting.

Currently a dust storm has spread across the state from the far west. We are blanketted in dust making it hard to see or breathe. Winds are gusting 60-100 km/h (35-60 mph). No relief expected for maybe a day or two.
Currently 4000 tonnes per hour of dust are hitting the Sydney region !!!!!
