    Welcome to f800riders.org!

F800riders.org (also known as the center of the Parallel Universe) is a forum built and maintained with the goal to be an on-line community which supports the owners of the BMW F800 motorcycles through common knowledge, shared wisdom, mechanical know how, new information, humor, drama, and most importantly, the promotion of worldwide friendship between people who haven't yet met.

We are very glad that you have found us! If you have yet to register, you are currently viewing our boards as a guest which gives you limited access to view most discussions and access our other features. By joining our free community you will have access to post topics, communicate privately with other members (PM), respond to polls, upload content and access many other special features. Registration is fast, simple and absolutely free so think of the nickname you want to use on the forum and register today!

The next 3 steps are optional but we, the f800riders.org community, do appreciate if you follow them up before starting with posting:

1 After registration and logging in you can customize the way you see and interact with the site via the User Control Panel. Fill in your profile and add a picture as your avatar. We do appreciate if you add your real name (or just the surname you would like to be known by) to your profile because it helps to maintain the friendly forum tone which makes this forum so special.

2 Check out the F800 Garage & add your bike to it.

3 Go to the New Owners section of the site and start a thread (or add a posting to the sticky thread) introducing yourself and tell us why you are interested in the F800 (or F650/700GS) and what knowledge you are seeking for. You can be sure you will be welcomed to the community!

    A bit of history:
F800riders.org was started by Rob Werksman just after BMW announced the introduction of the F800ST and the F800S at the end of 2005 as a non-profit forum, hence the .org registration. In the next few years the population grew exponentially and Rob started several other forums like s1000riders.org and g450riders.org and incorporated the already existing bmwsr.org (a BMW motorbike sport oriented forum) and huskytalk.com (a Husqvarna forum) when BMW bought Husqvarna.

All of these forums are technically integrated and share the non-model specific sections with f800riders.org.

As the community grew so did the costs of maintaining it so Rob started a voluntary donation action in which the members who donated got the title of F800Riders.org Supporter and some benefits like more space for personal messages and their nickname in green. Many donated which helped the forum through the next growing phase which stared when Rob launched a web shop with accessories for the F800's called f800depot.com which he ran together with his father, Bill Werksman, and sold in 2013 after Bill passed away.

Rob's ownership of the forum ended at the very end of 2011, when he started this thread: ANNOUNCEMENT-Forum-Ownership-Change and a company called Vertical Solutions, with www.motorcycle.com as their trademark who host and technically maintain many sports related sites and earn their income with the advertisements on their sites and forums, became the new owner.

As a means to honor the role of the members who donated in the period before the move to Vertical solutions all of them now have the permanent title of F800riders.org Supporter and the green nickname. Members who donate now donate do so to Vertical Solutions.

The last two types of users you will encounter here are the moderators (with blue nicknames) and administrators (with red nicknames).

All moderators (and de100kb ) are volunteers who's main target is to try to keep the forum-tone friendly so all members who are seeking for information on the F800's feel free to not alone learn from, but also contribute to, the community. In order to reach this goal we have to have some rules so here they are:

1 Use the search or use Google search before posting. Whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news and if so please continue in that thread. It will help to get more replies.
Please pay special attention to our Hall of Wisdom where we try to concentrate the most informative threads, but it's easy to overlook.

2 Language and tone of posting: f800riders.org is a worldwide community. As a result what is 'ok' to say in your part of the world may not be ok in someone else's part of the world. Please think about who is reading what you write. Keep in mind that what you think of as acceptable use of language may not be acceptable to others. Conversely, while reading member posts, remember that word you find offensive may not be to the writer. Tolerance is a two way street.

3 Offensive material: f800riders.org is used by people of all ages, including minors. It's not acceptable to post pornographic imagery or other non motorcycle related images who might offend others.

4 Flaming: f800riders.org was founded to share info on all things concerning the BMW F800 motorcycle series. Sharing does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) it does involve working together to solve problems in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Losing your temper and flaming another member, or group of members, is not acceptable behavior. Please don't use caps lock as it feels like you are shouting.

5 Personal attacks, racial, political and/or religious discussions: f800riders.org is a discussion forum about riding and maintaining motorcycles. These motorcycles are used by people from all racial, political, and religious backgrounds therefore none of these types of discussions are permitted on f800riders.org outside the Grown-Up Discussion section.

6 If you are easily offended: please ignore the Grown Up Discussion section!

    7. Use a clear subject and message when posting.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.

8 Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, After posting you are free to edit your message as you like for a limited time. Reread you posting and use the edit function if necessary. Remember not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.

If you are a new member and you still have a low post count you might get a message your posting is 'moderated' and it doesn't show up (if you use URL's in your posting or signature) and needs to be approved by a mod. If that happens please don't try posting the same message again but please wait for 24 hours to see if a mod pics it up and if not send a message to one of the mods who moderate that section so they can approve your message. The names of the mods who can do this are on the bottom of the screen of the message list of the section the thread is in and they are click-able.

9 Do not spam, sell or trade in the model specific sections.
There are specific sections called Forum-Classifieds where members can advertise but only non-commercially. Please use the correct section.
If you want to advertise commercially, please contact Vertical Solutions and become a F800riders.org Supporting Vendor.

10 Don't get us in trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either.

11 Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably already quite a few people newer than you that would benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.

12 Create only one User Account
You are allowed one User Account at f800riders.org. If you create additional accounts, moderators will disable them and your original account may also be disabled or infracted.

This forum runs on vBulletin software, a generic FAQ about the availability and use of functions like the user control panel can be found here.

Another useful read: this thread explains how to add pictures to your posting: How-to-upload-and-use-pictures

We, the moderators of f800riders.org, hope you will enjoy the site and help by adding new information on the bikes or the rides you make with them.

    Have fun, but safe!

What was that about double posting I missed?
Is this the death knell for the likes of pseudo members like myself and those of my ilk?

    Nota reposts all the time

Did I read we have humor, really do we humour, go to 'Word association' that is mental, 'Birthday message' is also mental.

If you are looking or lurking around and feel you want to make comment, but not a derogatory one, we do not like that, we do not like that at all, we also do not like spammers, spammers are dealt with by the anti spam crew of body builders inc. Otherwise join our community, what ever country/land/galactic presence you reside in, tell us about you and your bestest ever friend your F8 mate.
