Some good points, but his road positioning wasn't always ideal! Still he was riding in Ozzy Land...

"but his road positioning wasn't always ideal!"

Michael "Mick" Sydney Doohan, is an Australian former Grand Prix motorcycle road racing World Champion, who won five consecutive 500 cc World
I think this Doohan knows road positioning.

I'm wondering if it's actually Doohan on the bike. Still,, some good tips.

Racing lines are NOT the same as road riding (eg there is rarely anything coming the other way,and usually you can see around the corners! (Interestingly a mate of mine, a long term track racing man, took his advanced riding course with IAM Roadsmart and he found his positioning and was different from his track positioning.

It is only a matter of time before virtual reality takes over the riding experience and the government's Vision Zero (except in the bathtub) will finally arrive. When that happens you won't have to know any cornering tips. (My son-in-law designs VR programs and is a big proponent of sitting on your butt and experiencing life without moving.)

Well I still like to measure how much pleasure I get on a ride by counting the number of flies stuck to me teeth......
(Sitting on my butt looking at 'virtual reality' is the last thing I want to do unless I am no longer capable of movement!)

The video give the basics for a safe ride and that is part of all Training. In SA however, when on a nice twisty road or mountain pass you have to stay in the middle of your lane in blind corners. The reason for this is than some drivers have a false sense of the abilities of themselves and their vehicles. Even worse if it is a 4x4. They drive to fast and cannot stay in their lane. Another point is to constantly watch the road ahead for oncoming or slow moving vehicles like trucks. If you see a vehicle coming or going in the twisties rather slow down a bit. Coming up to a vehicle driving at 20 kph while you are travelling at 200 kph surely test the brakes on the bike and your ability to handle the bike if at that moment there is a vehicle coming from the front.
Your lines differ from racing and normal riding. You know the race track has no oncoming traffic and stationary vehicles are cleared quickly or the flag system warns you of potential problems. No such safety on the public roads.

You don't realize you could be having a "movement" and still enjoying an exciting race track. Might even scare the sh-t out of you!

That sure beats watching laxative ads on TV.

I'm looking more at the road and scenery Mark, although the S1000RR does look nice. The video was shot for the Queensland Govt so it would have been shot in Queensland (naturally). I'd hazzard a guess in the hinterland behind the Gold Coast. There are heaps of roads like these cris-crossing the Great Dividing Range which runs along the East Coast of Australia. Roads like these only 30 minutes from home.
