That's what I'm thinking. I always use another known opening back to some phishing effort. I keep getting BS inquiries to my paypal, etc.
I just thought I'd make the populace aware of the attempt.

    Hey,

This is very weird. We do use a plugin called DragonByte Security and f800riders.org@vsobr.com is our email, but I don't know why it's sending 4 years after the alert. Have you ever been a member on gawker.com? It seems to be a blog website which I don't think we have anything to do with.

Yah, the email was strange. Not been a paying member, I'm a weasel hanger-on.
I figured it was a spam, phish thing or something from a parallel universe.
I sent them my checking account number and social security number anyway just to play it safe.

Better safe then sorry I'd say it was a once off, but if it does happen again let us know and we'll look into it a little deeper.

Mike, I've not noticed any results negative to the first spamming.
Probably some wanker that shoots these things out for a grin hoping to snag a victim.
One friend, and my sister, responded to a phishing by a phone call or an email that requested money sent by store gift cards or Western Union.
THey are both a little light in the worldly ways but got convinced of the wrongness of it before losing anything.

I've gotten the same email before too; different website referenced though. But because I use a totally different password for forums than I use for any other website I don't worry about it. What are they going to get? In this case, the forum is about how to install and use Linux Mint. Not much gained there.

I assuming they're gathering data to send spam. I would recommend changing your password every year in case these things happen.

At this time, it's more about when your account will be breach and not if it will. this goes for all accounts across all platforms. But the notice is so old... i don't think we should worry about it since we already had the password reset.
