I just tried to visit the R1200RS forum and received a large full-page sign (including a warning triangle and an exclamation point) that said: "Account Suspended". Does anyone know what that might be about? I have seen forums go blank for a day or two while they receive some maintenance or upgrades, but this is the first time I have seen an account suspended. Do you think this has anything to do with Donald or Putin? (I believe the host is located in the UK. Could this have anything to do with the price of beef?)

Believe me, Donald and Putin don't care whether there's a forum for the R1200RS.

With only one administrator and moderator (correct me if I'm wrong), it is highly dependent on that person being available. Does he have the flu? Did he get in a car accident? There's lots of things that can go wrong.

And it seemed like even when there was a problem before with the spammers, he couldn't be reached to do anything.

Yes. That could be. Or maybe it was the last set of Worst Attorney jokes that I pilfered from the Worst Jokes Ever thread and posted yesterday that got the site suspended after some Attorney sued the host who then had to say a day's worth of "hail Mary's" to get it back up again.

Yes, down and lets hope not out for the count. It seems to happen to that site occasionally. My guess is that it will return by tomorrow.

So I noticed just now. I like the design of the website, but it sure seems like it is being run by someone who just isn't paying much attention to what is going on there.

My guess is the owner is just someone who happened upon an idea to make money with little effort. He spotted a new model motorcycle that didn't have a forum yet. He set it up and lets the advertisements pay for his fun elsewhere...and probably not on a R1200RS or any motorcycle.

The people who own and run the F800Riders.org site have a professional staff working for them. It's a business to them and the professional staff (Halfpint) provide great customer service. The same cannot be said about the R1200RS forum. I get the feeling that the owner comes by every now and then when he sees his advertising dollars have quit coming in.

Another example of how little the R1200RS owner feels about the forum members is the lack of any moderators to keep things running.

Like Facebook, you (the forum member) are the product he's selling.

Still not back I see. I guess it was telling that the admin never posted about riding his own RS, unless he posted under another name.

It is not looking good right now. I am starting to get the feeling that the RS forum may have had some sort of terminal issue, either financial or administrative. Perhaps the site owner was run over by Santa Claus riding his RS on the off season? I'll keep checking back and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it returns as there was a lot of useful information posted on that forum over the past three years that would be difficult to reproduce elsewhere.

I am surprised no one has created a new R1200RS forum by now. It can't be hard.

Over in the Honda world, Joe (Mellow) runs two forums. One for ST1100 and ST1300 owners, and another for NT700V owners. He started them up as a ST1300 owner. Like most good forums, he has himself as the admin (and maybe one other) with several members as moderators. I doubt he makes much off the forums. Probably just enough to pay the server fees.

Another option would be to contact Halfpint and see if they could create another forum like this one. It isn't hard for them at all. They make money on advertising, and you get a RS forum that you can count on.

The content would be recreated within a year as RS owners frequented the new site. You could also transfer some of the important info.

Or wait around for awhile longer till the current RS site owner notices he's not making any money off advertising and gets it back on line. But remember...he doesn't care about you at all.

Are the people who run (ran) the R1200RS forum, the same as those who run the R1200R forum? If so, maybe you could contact someone that way?

Well, there is this forum that has an RS section: https://www.r1200rlc.com/ But it sure doesn't look like the RS forum that has collapsed. I really doubt that the RLC forum has any connection with the RS forum.

I'm considering stumping up for UKGSers so that I can access the Classifieds. Very naughty to just shut down without offering someone else the opportunity to take over.
