My guess: R100 Airhead ~1976?....and on, judging by the flat topped valve covers.

Does no boxers top the pistons 180° apart?

I was going to say speak english. Because I'm not sure what you mean. But I think you mean do none of the boxers have one piston going out, while the other one goes in? Topping, first one, then the other.
    No, they don't.
The vibration would be outrageous. The thing would move sideways and whack you into whatever was beside you. I think. No, the vibration on the boxer is bad enough as it is.

decoats, A properly tuned boxer has fundamental balance due to the pistons being diametrically opposed. Primary balance as BMW describes it. But if you get the carbs, on air heads, or the throttle bodies on the injected engines out of synch it sucks. A properly set engine will allow a glass of fine wine in a crystal glass to set on the top box and not move. Well, at least mine used to run like that.

Well, I rode two of them yesterday out in Riverside and they both, the 2008 and the 2011 demo (both RT) rumbled at idle like trucks.
Your glass of wine would have flown off the other side of the road.
However, with my F800ST, you could, at idle put your wine on the false tank and possibly not even spill it with revvs (possibly).
However, watch for my new thread.

My R1200R shakes a lot at idle, but it smooths out between 2000 and 4000 rpm. Above 5000 rpm it starts vibrating noticeably, but I rarely run it up that high except when accelerating hard.

I concur with you. The boxers that I have rode vibrate a lot at idle. As soon as I rolled on the throttle, they became much smoother.

Wouldn't that be cured with more than 2 Cylinders?

By the way, you understood me just fine, thanks, even though I'm not native english speaking.

Yeah, I thought about it a bit and then it occurred to me what you were asking. Yes, I do believe the K bikes would be much smoother with their greater number of cylinders. I think also remembering the old days of the old Honda 4 cylinders they were known for their greater smoothness.

Yep had a dealer do the wine glass of water on a Honda 400/4 trick when they first came out, trying to temp me to buy one. As I was on a 50cc at the time if I had bought it I would have probably killed myself. I did take to for a test ride and compared to what I was riding it was amazing you just turned the throttle and it went quicker, a sewing machine vibrated more!

I would love to ride one agin today to compare...

My original post on this was actually ANIMATED PISTON DOT COM. That seemed to be the nicest one on the boxer.

So when the animated engine locks up with a Java script error or something, does the website say, "They all do that, sir".

Apparently so. Mine does that too - but only after it has been running a while.

Interesting x-ray of the engine at work. Makes me wonder why they're so much metal above and below the crankshaft area though?
