Just finished reading "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I am a voracious reader and read about 10 books a month. This book made it into my top 10 list. One of the best books I've ever read. It was made into a movie but I didn't see it.

Just finished The First World War by John Keegan. Now reading Inferno by Max Hastings.
Both authors are terrific British historians.

I totally agree, I've read Inferno myself. I'm reading "1918 - a year of victories" by Martin Marix Evans

I’m reading a thriller by Edgar Wallace, I bought five of his books at 49 euro cents each one at the Apple Bookstore. They are very easy to read and the one I’m reading now is the third of the five I’ve purchased.

    My reading related joke

One morning a husband returns to the cabin after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out since it is such a beautiful day. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book. Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, " Good morning, Ma'am, what are you doing?" "Reading a book," she replies , (thinking, "Isn't that obvious?")
"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area,” he informs her. "I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading." "Yes, but you have all the equipment. I'll have to write you up a ticket. " "For reading a book," she replies. "You're in a Restricted Fishing Area ,” he informs her again ."
"But officer, I'm not fishing, I'm reading." " Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to write you up a ticket and you'll have to pay a fine." "If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman." "But I haven't even touched you," says the Game Warden . "That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment."

"Have a nice day ma'am," and he immediately departed.

    MORAL OF THE STORY:
Never argue with a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think.

I’m reading again the “In search of the lost time” by Marcel Proust and “The man without qualities” by Robert Musil, both for the second time. But I’m also reading some thrillers by Agatha Christie, by Edgar Wallace, by George Simenon and by Ruth Rendell just to read something lighter to alternate to these two great, but difficult, readings. I’ve always been able to read more than one book at the same time, I always remember the exact point where I stop the reading, the number of page and the line… it’s a sort of professional deformation. At the moment, being in the hospital I have a lot of time for reading.

Welcome back to the Grown-up section Guido you've been sorely missed and hope you make a full recovery soon. In the meantime keep on reading - but Marcel Proust, that's heavy going. "A brief history of time", Stephen Hawking might be a lighter read!!

I'm reading "Infidel" by Hirsi Ali, pretty depressing, as for me.

Gonna kickstart (if you will) a WildWilly thread.
I am reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
Kind of apropos in the times we are living in.

Yup. I read that and found it, as well as the screen adaptation with Vigo Mortensen, pretty depressing. Prefer something a bit more uplifting in this time. Just finished Under the Banner of Heaven, by Jon Krakauer. Fascinating read about the origins and evolution of Mormonism, including the fringe elements. Other recent reads I can recommend: Deacon King Kong (not a page turner from the start but rewarding if you stick with it), The Book Thief (previously noted by Bill and the best fiction I've read in quite some time), and The Code Breaker (story of Nobel prize winning research by Jennifer Doudna).
