Even the conservative news media and gun-toting talk show hosts feel that he went way too far with his comments. The only defense they can come up with is that he was just screwing with the White House press corp and was trying to drive them crazy as his idea of fun.

Have I missed something? According to various graphs America's Covid infections and deaths are still rising whereas in Europe in some countries the graph is beginning to plateau yet we're still extending our lock downs but #45 is now talking about relaxing the restrictions? Has America got a different virus to the rest of the world or has #45 thrown his personal billions at the US healthcare system to help out?

Yesterday Trump changed his mind and tossed the ball to the various state Governors and local county health officials to figure out when to back off on the virus restrictions. That way if anything goes wrong he can't be blamed and can tell the public they did it and not him. However, if things go right and the country starts recovering, he will take credit for the turnaround - naturally.

Thinking about social distancing, in Bergamo area, this problem could have started during a football match (so it seems) between Valencia and Atalanta, thousands of people at close contact shouting continuously could have spread the virus very quickly, and Lumbardy (where Bergamo is) is well connected with the rest of Italy, So the virus seems to have moved southwards following highways and rail lines. Genoa (Liguria) is separated by mountains from Padan plane, so virus could be arrived with tourists from Lumbardy, and then moved to Tuscany. This examples show how virus spreads, so you don't need to be a scientist (as we say) to understand that lock down and distancing were here essential, wath surprises me is that more than one government hasn't understood.
We had 2 possibilities: protect economy or protect people, and the latter one is part of our culture, I'd say.

In Italy we have a crime which is "public service interruption", that is to say that you could be arrested if you try to stop a bus during a demonstration, for instance, not to talk about hospitals. Sometimes I happen to think that people in USA are more keen to consider their own rights and privileges than someone else's. Different cultures I suppose, but I dare to say that there aren't enemies trying to steal your rights, when you're asked to stay at home
