Recently I have been hearing ads on the radio for a product called "Tiger Lady". They kind of beat around the bush describing what it is but it sounds like some sort of device that you wear on your hands like brass knuckles which has retractable blades that spring out so that you can carve up someone bothering you. They mention that it will save samples of the offender's flesh so that you will have some of their DNA in order that they can be tracked down and punished - as if being sliced up by a Tiger Lady wasn't enough.

Is this the latest in self-help "social distancing"?

    Glimmers of hope,,!!
I was out for a walk last night and happened to notice one of our local 2 generations family owned restaurants had a "We Are Open" sign and more then a dozen cars in the parking lot,,. First in 3 months and in the local area that I'm aware of" I checked there web site and they have set up C19 protocols and have had an inspection and approval from the Health Board,,.

This is an interesting article that details the relative safety of various tasks that might get you infected with the Covid-19 virus:

Great article. It uses some common sense. Camping was listed as being low risk, and it makes sense.

Things didn't seem too bad at our beaches yesterday. Mostly because there were so many cars stuck in traffic that I don't think many of them ever reached the beach. However, the ones that did were said to be removing the "no parking" signs and tossing them in the trash cans and parking in the lots, anyway. At least the news media reported that most people that did make it to the beach were maintaining a modicum of social distancing and nothing outrageous was shown on the nightly TV news.

Amazing how hard it is to fugure this mask thing out,,!!

    HEALTH AND SCIENCE
Health leader Dr. Atul Gawande says coronavirus spread can be slowed if 60% of people wear masks
PUBLISHED MON, MAY 18 202011:27 AM EDT

*Dr. Atul Gawande told CNBC on Monday that people must take seriously the responsibility of wearing a face mask to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
*“If we can get over 60% of us wearing masks that are 60% effective ... we can shut down the virus,” Gawande said on “Squawk Box.”
*“There are going to be people who don’t want to wear their mask, just like they don’t necessarily want to get their vaccinations,” he added.

The news on my radio this morning tried to list the different social distancing and virus safety rules in the SF Bay Area counties. It made my head spin. Depending upon which county you are in, you need to wear a mask all the time while outside, or just when you are within 30 feet of someone else, or 6 feet, or not at all and just use your own judgement. One county says that bicycle riders should wear a mask if they are within 65 feet of another rider, other counties say no big deal. One county is opening up all of its restaurants to indoor dining, others just to outdoor dining and another just for takeout. Wine tasting is OK in one county, but not in another county unless you also eat food while there. And the list goes on and on. You can walk from one side of a street for one set of rules and go to the other side for another set of rules. Who can possibly keep track of all of these requirements, especially as they seem to change every week?

Meanwhile the police are made responsible for enforcing these regulations and at the same time there is a big push in some Bay Area cities to cutback or even disband police departments.

What really aggravates me though, is that when these regulations are issued, not once are they explained to the general public why they need to be followed to protect someone from catching the COVID-19 virus and why they are changing from week to week, while the virus and its affects don't seem to change much.

Anyone want to move to Florida and go golfing?

I heard today on the radio news that Trump's campaign manager says that they have sold 300,000 tickets for his big rally in Oklahoma. The weird thing is that the stadium that he is using for the rally only has 19,000 seats. Kind of makes you wonder what is going on? Fake news, a huge exaggeration by his staff, or someone can't count? And of course, anyone who buys a ticket also has to sign a "hold harmless" liability document. I wonder why?

Yeah...fake news. The venue holds 19,199 people. But by signing up for the rally, you give your info to the campaign people ...which is good for marketing later. After all, how many people will be there who aren't Trump supporters?

    https://www.rawstory.com/2020/06/tru...people-coming/
Trump re-election campaign manager Brad Parscale has created quite a stir on social media after first claiming 200,000 – and then, just a few hours later 300,000 people have already signed up to attend President Donald Trump’s first MAGA rally since the shutdown to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.“Trump #MAGA Rally in Tulsa is hottest ticket ever!” Parscale tweeted late Friday afternoon. “Over 200K tickets already & it’s not even political season.”

It is, in fact, political season, and it’s a surprising statement from the head of one of the two presidential campaigns.

“Looking at a 2nd event in town to get more people to be w/ @realDonaldTrump. Gonna be GREAT in the most open state in nation!”
    “Register,” Parscale implored Trump supporters.

Considering the arena holds at most 19,199 people, it might seem odd that Parscale is asking more people to come, but this is all a theatrical stunt. The campaign knows a small percentage of those who sign up will attend, but once someone registers they capture their name, email address, and cell phone number, and can then add them to their marketing lists, which are extremely valuable.
It's nothing new. But the "fake news" will take it out of context like, "You've got to be kidding. They are selling tickets for a venue that can't hold a tenth of that number?!" In reality, it just goes to show the kind of support President Trump has.

As for the legal waiver, Fox News brought that up earlier today. A number of businesses from restaurants to hair dressers are trying that. The businesses are trying to cover themselves. Their insurance companies have already told them they won't be covered for any lawsuits. That the president's campaign is trying it too, is nothing different. But the "fake news" won't tell you that.

    Here's one for the ages.

WATCH: Bill De Blasio Defends Locking Playgrounds While Joining Black Lives Matter, Transgender Protests
    https://www.breitbart.com/health/202...nder-protests/

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio defended his administration’s practice of locking playgrounds on Tuesday morning, even though he personally has participated in crowded Black Lives Matter and transgender protests in recent weeks.

De Blasio was addressing reporters at a press briefing the a day after city workers welded the gates shut around parks in Brooklyn — and Orthodox Jews used bolt cutters to re-open playgrounds in their neighborhoods later the same day.
He did not explain why he, along with tens of thousands of other left-wing New Yorkers, marched in Black Lives Matter protests or protests on behalf of black transgender people, where social distancing rules were generally not observed.
But we have to maintain the rule of law and order. In other words, it is illegal for your Jewish kid to use a playground, but it is okay to loot and destroy NYC businesses as a peaceful protest. This is the most "woke" virus ever.

The last time I watched fox news they were agreeing with the president that Covid-19 was a Democratic hoax. Has that changed?

WASHINGTON — Officials in Tulsa, Okla., are warning that President Trump’s planned campaign rally on Saturday — his firstin over three months — is likely to worsen an already troubling spike in coronavirus infections and could become a disastrous “super spreader.”
They are pleading with the Trump campaign to cancel the event, slated for a 20,000-person indoor arena — or at least move it outdoors.
“It’s the perfect storm of potential over-the-top disease transmission,” said Bruce Dart, the executive director of the Tulsa health department. “It’s a perfect storm that we can’t afford to have.”
Tulsa County, which includes the city of Tulsa, tallied 89 new coronavirus cases on Monday, its one-day high since the virus’s outbreak, according to the Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency. The number of active coronavirus cases climbed to 532 from 188 in a one-week period, a 182 percent increase; hospitalizations with Covid-19 almost doubled.

Is there a rally? I've been out riding.

I don't pay attention to much of that any more. The same politicians that are telling us to quake in fear of being out in public and to keep six feet apart from everyone, are the same politicians that are cheering on the "peaceful" demonstrators. And those same politicians say that looting, arson and assault are all part of peaceful protests.

So if tens of thousands can disregard "social distancing" to loot, set fire to property and put others in the hospital all in the course of a peaceful protest...and that all across the USA...then what's the harm in a political rally in one location?

BTW, I'm going out riding tomorrow. If you're not going...eat your heart out.

i just returned from a 4-mile hike at an open space area in the Santa Cruz Mountains after riding there by myself on my motorcycle. I was the only one in the parking lot and never saw a single person during my 2 hour hike. But on the way back home things were different. As I rode along the Pacific coast highway, every beach was jammed and hundreds of cars were parked along the highway and in all of the dirt lots within 1/4 mile in every direction. At Surfer's Beach in northern Half Moon Bay, the relatively small beach was completely crowded with hundreds of families and the ocean was packed with people swimming and surfing. As near as I could tell, no one was wearing a mask and social distancing didn't seem to be a obvious priority. Our county has been showing an increase in COVID-19 infections as a result of Memorial Day fun and unfortunately I suspect that more are to come.

Back from being banned by the MAGAT. Thumbs up to the ole First Amendment, but two thumbs up to the Second Amendment, eh, MAGAT?

At least if there is any COVID spike resulting from the Trump rally it will only be some more MAGATs.*

Hey, now I have been warned. Not sure why. Seems to be in relation to that post just above #336

This copy and paste of my PM from 'Daboo', presented here for transparency and free as a bird, care of the First Amendment, eh?

Now looking at my post #336 I can't see the insult. I wrote MAGAT, as Chris is a hat wearing member of the Make America Great Again Team. That can't be seen as an insult on account of him being proud of that status. In fact this proud:

So that can't be an insult, by definition.

I mentioned the First and Second Amendments, so that can't be an insult, even to a flawed document. I even gave them a thumbs up or two.

I mentioned COVID, but despite that being dismissed by Trump as first a hoax, then the sniffles, then something bad real bad - but not his fault as he didn't know coz CHIINA didn't tell him what he just said he already knew, but that he knew about a long time before anybody. That can't be an insult, as Mr TP is not a member here.

I mentioned the quote from the book of MAGAT, but the book isn't a member here, coz its a book, so that can't be an insult.

I mentioned that a bunch of folk may attend the Trump Rally, but I don't know of any Tik Tok members who bought fake tickets and wouldn't be attending anyway. As for the MAGATs who do attend, they are doing it of their own volition, so that can't be an insult.

Maybe Daboo, just maybe you misstyped because in typing that I insulted someone, and even attacked them seems a little disingenuous.

Its not like I knelt on anyone's neck or took out my AR-15 and said potty-mouth words when some folk of the wrong, ahem, persuasion came into mar naybarhood. Did I?

Chris (the Administrator), I feel that I am being persecuted and publicly and metaphorically crucified for my faith.

Yesterday a young mountain lion was found roaming the streets of downtown San Francisco. He was apparently looking for a bull in the financial district and wasn't having any luck. The cops took time off from controlling protesters to throw a net over the lion and moved him to my neighborhood in the suburbs where there is more to eat. No tear gas or rubber bullets were used in capturing the mountain lion, just traditional overweight cops swinging billy clubs.

Not Good, perhaps some social distancing and face masks might be in order,!!

Florida shows signs as next coronavirus epicenter as cases spike across the country

Ten states saw a record number of new Covid-19 cases this week, and one of them could be the next epicenter of the national health crisis.

Florida reported 3,207 additional coronavirus cases on Thursday -- the largest single-day count in the state since the pandemic, according to the state health department. Florida's total reported cases climbed to nearly 86,000, according to data.
The Sunshine State has "all the markings of the next large epicenter of coronavirus transmission," and risks being the "worst it has ever been," according to projections from a model by scientists at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania.
"That makes me very worried because, at the numbers they're now seeing, it's very easy to start doubling and lose control of the epidemic," Dr. David Rubin, director of PolicyLab at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, told CNN on Thursday.

Or, it is the media hyping the data so you'll panic and stay glued to their "news" outlet.

You're in an area that actually might get snow. Here in Seattle, when we get snow, we almost have to wait till it melts on its own. So when an inch or two is in the forecast, that's all they talk about. Why? Because it generates viewer ratings and advertising. And then...if it doesn't snow, they still put reporters on the scene to show live footage of the wet roadways that didn't get snow. I have to wonder how much is the same with the coronavirus.

For instance, "Florida reported 3,207 additional coronavirus cases on Thursday -- the largest single-day count in the state since the pandemic, according to the state health department. Florida's total reported cases climbed to nearly 86,000, according to data." Okay...how many of those additional coronavirus cases were the result of test kits being available now? Could it be that if they had the test kits two months ago, those same people might've still tested positive? ...but they wouldn't have shown in the numbers from Thursday, so it wouldn't show a dramatic increase. Numbers don't lie...but you can make them say whatever you want them to say. And...how many of those tested positive even knew they had any symptoms? There's a difference between being asymptomatic and being admitted to intensive care. Both show as a positive result.

The quotes from the next two make me laugh. Remember the snow forecast? "all the markings" and "risks being the 'worst it has ever been'" are all a case of we aren't there yet and may never be...but you asked my opinion and I want to seem important...so I'll play it up big. Same with "it's very easy to start doubling and lose control". If we were going to lose control, it was when all the protests and rioting happened. You breathe a lot harder when you're breaking windows and running away from stores with your arms full. More heavy breathing and more chance of getting or spreading the virus.

I watch the map of how the virus is being tracked in the USA, and especially for Snohomish and King county. It's moving only a little, and what I expect. So Lyle, I'd go outside and get some fresh air. Enjoy the beautiful area you live in.

Oh...we have got to get together. Mt. Baker was beautiful. The road to Artist Point should be open around the end of the month.

I've been on several motorcycle rides in the last couple months. The risk was minimal...but the "oh my gosh, the sky is falling" attitude locally was high. When I went to Kamiah, ID, I encountered about as many people in the entire weekend of riding as I would get in walking down one aisle at Fred Meyer in five minutes. When I went to Seven Bays, WA last weekend, I was in a house with five people. Same thing. I'll go to Home Depot and Costco today to look at lawn mowers and will encounter far more people in each location than I met there. And next Thursday, I'm heading off to Spearfish, SD for another rally. It won't be much different.

I think we need to use common sense and practice good hygiene. But I don't think we need to live in fear. We had a prayer rally at church last night. First time we've gotten together in months. We met outside in the parking lot and had probably a good 300 people there. But only families grouped together, and everyone had masks on. Those that weren't in that family, kept their distance from the ones close to them. Common sense and good hygiene.

I'm not worried at all. Our fearless leader is on top of it . . . . . .

Gray TV's DC bureau chief Jacqueline Policastro said to Trump, "Coronavirus cases are rising in 22 states, including Oklahoma, where you plan to hold a big rally this week. Aren't you worried about people getting sick?"

"No," Trump said, "because if you look, the numbers are very minuscule compared to what it was. It's dying out. By the way, we're doing very well in vaccines and therapeutics." And he went on from there.

I do wonder if Americans live on the same planet as the rest of the world!

Or, it is the media hyping the data so you'll panic and stay glued to their "news" outlet.

A lot more than one news outlet is reporting an increase in C19 numbers in Florida State, Covid19 cases, Positivity rate is up, Hospital rate is up, Death rate sadly to follow and currently far from under control,,. Definitely not "dying out" as one prominent politician will lead you to believe,,.

Local officials and public health experts are concerned about other statistics that show that the coronavirus is still spreading in Florida. The state's Department of Health reports that the number of people showing up in hospital emergency rooms with symptoms of the flu and COVID-19 is rising. Also worrisome — the percentage of people who are testing positive for the virus is going up. In Palm Beach County, health director Alina Alonso says the rising positivity rate is a clear sign that the new cases can't just be attributed to increased testing. Since Palm Beach County began allowing businesses to reopen, Alonso says, the percentage of people testing positive has jumped from 4.9% to 8.9%. "The fact that these are going up means there's more community spread," she says. "The virus now has food out there. It has people that are out there without masks, without maintaining distancing. So it's infecting more people."

Don't worry abought me, I've been out plenty & all along, things are going rather well as we open up the Province,,. Our numbers are progressively dropping on a weekly basis with under a dozen new cases per day and no deaths on many of the days recently. The spread was mostly in our care facilities and that is pretty much under control hence the constantly improving numbers. Many people here wear face masks and social distancing is everywhere,,!!

"I feel that I am being persecuted and publicly and metaphorically crucified for my faith."

Chris is a Trump-ite. He like my brother cannot fathom why anyone isn't in awe of him.

I asked why Trump spoke in such glowing terms of all the people he assigned a positions and the castigated and vilified them when they disagreed with him or got some of the spotlight.
Then Chris didn't want to talk about it any more.

A woman reporter asked Trump the other day, why he hired such liars and low lives to such important positions, he failed to reply and got up and walked away.
His house of cards is starting to collapse. He's never really had plan 'A' and certainly no plan 'B' to fall back on.

Why else would Trump demand no disclosure signatures and a phalanx of lawyers to protect his lying ass.

Agreed...but many of them just regurgitate the same info. Look at what they say...then use a critical eye towards what it really means.

My daughter is taking her husband and I out for lunch at a restaurant in town near her to celebrate Father's Day tomorrow (Sunday was booked-up). It should be interesting to see how things are handled at a restaurant other than Alice's. Her county has recently approved both indoor and outdoor dining, with the usual safeguards, of course. I do wonder how prices need to increase at restaurants to account for reduced clientele due to 6' table spacing and all of the various sanitizing and other procedures that need to be followed to keep their customers safe?
