The video articulated in clear terms the downfall of Harley. And illustrates American business buy backs of stocks with the tax breaks and public money falling their way. It happened at Harley and it is happening elsewhere.

I heard this morning on the radio business news report than Harley would be opening up their factory(s) starting next week, but with a much reduced output. The reporter also said that 70% of their dealers would not be receiving any new bikes this year.

It's hard to sell a product you don't have. What will the faithful do when the lifestyle finally dries up? No big chains on the wallet, no doo rags, Getting Honda tattoos?.
Real Americans may not be so obvious to the casual observer.

Well, H-D dealers can continue to sell doo-dads and other expensive personal accessories. All of those come from China, whose factories are now open and back to shipping stuff to the rest of the world.

Here is a good analogy for H-D's situation: When digging a hole in soft dirt, if you dig too deep it can be tough to get out.

I tell ya I'm not a Harley fan, probable wouldn't even be a rider if thats all there was but I will say this, at least in these parts, anywhere you go there are tons of Harley's everywhere,,. Ill bet 60% of what you see out there are Harleys and I'm not knocking them for doing what they like to do, just not my cup of tea,,.
I think its unfortunate that they cant broaden there lineup for wider appeal,,.
Man, that ADV bike, all they had to do is ask anyone to draw them a picture,,. They basically all look similar,,. The Japanese would have sold them a design for peanuts,,!!

My big complaint about Harley owners is that some of them around here have gone overboard with the noise that their bikes make by completely removing their mufflers and rattling windows all around the neighborhood. This has been going on for some time and the local cops don't seem to want to give out noise tickets. However, instead they spend all of their time giving out parking tickets to beach visitors and surfers who park in the local neighborhoods to avoid the closed beach parking lots. I guess that is a lot easier than chasing after noisy Harley riders.

Same here, I live on the beach circuit and they go by here all day long in the nice weather, barely moving yet shaking the earth like a column of Sherman Tanks,,. Many with straight pipes and stereos blasting, obviously they have earplugs in but the neighborhood really catches hell, they put speed bumps and now they blip the throttle as they gear up or down and the cops are not interested,,.

Horseshoe Bay (a picturesque seaside community) finally put up no parking signs specific to motorcycles on the streets because the waterfront Starbucks had become a haven for this strait pipe crowd and its commercial/residential neighborhood with restaurants & plenty of condos and homes,,.

These Harley guys are pissed but given my personal experience I cant really blame the residents, the bikers don't contribute a heck of a lot, monopolize the premuim parking area all day and could care less about the locals,,. What they are doing now is spacing there bikes out, six feet apart in the remaining available parking so there is no room for any cars,,.

The no parking signs are the first step. The next step will be no motorcycles allowed, and this will affect all riders, not just the jerks.

On many motorcycle forums, including this one, the young upstarts (and even some old foggies) are quick to ditch their exhaust for something louder.

Folks, we’re just doing it to ourselves. Go ride in Europe — you won’t see this nonsense, The public is more than fed up.
