Oh, "Housos" is an aussie comedy about people kinda like MAGATs, only probably with higher IQs. Bill, you'll have to check it out and see if I got the description right.

Deja Vu all over again. In my senior year of Catholic high school, the priest teaching Latin said there were 7 students that prevented the school from being great. I asked him who the other 6 were and it turned out they were guys I hung out with. (Go figure) I bought iron on letters that spelled out BIG 7 and we put them on our letter jackets. The principal, a Nun, called my parents and told them I was forming a mafia group. Ah, good times.

I think that's whats missing in these PC times. People can be so anal. Me and my friends are always taking the piss out of each other - it's banter, no matter what we say, it's never taken seriously. Me being English is like a red rag to the Irish, we have a great craic!

Am I mistaken or has Paul's post disappeared. I noticed he used the C word at the start of it and was critical of someone. Whether that was the reason or not, I don't know.

I hate to say it, but who is "Paul" and what did he post? Sometimes I only recognize people by their avatar names. Was it a bad C word?

There apparently are forum rules about calling people names and getting personal, even on the Grownup Discussion forum. That could get you banned by an Administrator (not by a moderator, though). However, moderators can either delete (which leaves a record in the thread), or we can dump individual posts into the Trash Can, which is one of my favorite things to do to spamer posts, but I have never done that to a member's post.

I think the chances of a trip to the hospital from such a face to face meeting would be lessened if you wear a mask. Ideally, both people should wear a mask, just to be sure, in these COVID-19 times.

Hold on. I've just re-read the "face to face to me" bit and it comes off the computer screen reading like a threat of violence from one forum member toward another. Like the writer says they may hurt another person. Yikes. Chris I hope that is not what you meant? If a verbal - well, written - slur at a person's belief is held to be so heinous, then how much worse is a not-too-well-burqa'd threat of violence going to sit with the administrators of the Forum*?

I think it best if we all put down our AR-15s (at least those that support the use of said devices) and just hold hands and hold our tongues. Sure, one could reach around for a puddy to grab if that brings calm, but lets just de-escalate, turn the udder cheek and glow....

Ahhhh - breathe in through the mask - out through the mask - in through the knee bone on your neck if you can - out through the asphalt.

That's better, all nice and quiet, and much happier for you, yeah?

*I believe that the Forum Administrators and/or moderators need to have a serious look at the keyboard warrior 'Daboo' for his threat of violence to forum members. I believe (oh cheeses) that violence and the threat of keyboard violence is not really kosher, even for a christ stain.

I didn't see that post C word post and don't know who Paul is. The reference to a 'thicker skin' was made only as a suggestion in a private message to the moderator in question. Usually my posts, if I think could be contentious, are crafted, as I've always been careful to be diplomatic by not mentioning names or making explicit accusations.

My Name is Spartacus, ere no sorry its Paul, er bloody thingy whatsit, forgotten now among all the banter here. I have clicked like for some but most I have missed, my like finger is feeling poorly.

One post here has been bothering me, is it me or is it the way it has been written by Daboo, I have a feeling it was written in anger. I have not to my memory said or written about or defamed him, though he does not mention any one in specific terms in this section. I am surprised at the reaction given in that post, also in a separate post he has, part of his post has been cut and pasted, hence to my tiny eany meany mind the context has been lost. I am not sticking up for him, but the overall post was a tad OTT, sorry Daboo.

Back to normal, I am finding the farting burping and oily smell is lingering, like a dead duck laying there for some time. Whinging about Our Ozzie friends escaping prisoners, Americans dumping tea bags into the sea's and all because us English wanted to control them and find the good life. In two words AHH Shit, we brits know how to make friend and influence people.

I don't know if I dare sign this, treachery and banishment is forthcoming . . .

All I can add is that the COVID-19 situation is making everyone kind of crazy, especially out in the real world and even more so in the "freedom-loving" U.S. My recommendation would be to follow the "Golden Rule" and treat others as you would like to be treated. Take a moment to reflect on what you say in a post before pushing that reply button and do your best to be calm, reasonable and use as few adjectives as possible. Also, drinking less coffee and humming might help too. Finally, don't forget to get some fresh air and ride your motorcycle into the boondocks to clear your head.

Willy mentioned he may be missing in action from now on. Pity. He is a great agitator.
I was banned from the BMWST site. After a long while it came up in conversation at a Coffee Klatch and one of those present told me he owned the site and the moderator that banned me was no longer a member and I could join again but under a new moniker.
I declined the offer. Remembering how some of the moderators have such overlord power with no recourse on the part of the banned The site was so sanitary that it lacked any heart and soul. Maybe the direction that this site could take under such strict guidelines.
Some folks just have no sense of humor at all.
The F-G650GS site is rather aseptic and lacks much of a personality. Lots of stuff about the bike though.
It's the ribald 'got to know you' personality of this site that has fostered the pleasure of visiting.

I spent 13 years on the F650GS Chain Gang forum. I was inmate number 230. But after I bought my 2009 F650GS twin and discovered that the forum was not interested in creating a category for the new twin, I stuck around for a while and eventually dropped off the site and moved to this one.

My Irish friends talk about us Brits coming over and causing 'mayhem' with the population (I didn't want to say rape and pillage as it could be deemed offensive to all populations where those actions happened). I tell 'em they weren't specially selected - we did it to everybody!

Over the centuries most of the European countries in the 15th to 20th century who were sent out to explore the 'New World' went around slaughtering the indigenous peoples in all corners of the world. Bear in mind, America was settled by those same Europeans. It's history that we know happened, and you can't change history but also we shouldn't try to air-brush it out. We need to learn from the past, - if possible.

About those stents, when the Doc was getting ready to insert a sent up through my thigh artery he was asking what size they had at hand. Then he says, gimme a 15 or what ever we have. Ah, the mastered science of surgery of heart patient care.

The previous few posts are proof of what we need - a little light hearted banter. We're all going or gone through a very serious time - only a laugh will see you through the hard times.

Ha Steve! Actually I am a complete fake - at the ripe old age of 65 I have just taken up dirt riding ( a sensible sport for a man my age) -

Was supposed to ride to The Tip, Cape York, two weeks ago but that went down the gurgler - so going next July.

My '16 F800GT has been upgraded and truly is a gorgeous looking bike with Carbon Fibre covers on the frame, lots of sparkles and farkles etc but I have just added to my garage perhaps the ugliest bike I have seen for long time - a Suzuki DR650 - but bejeezus its fun to ride. Just did 1800 km in middle of NSW over 4 days of dirt, mud, wet clay ( aka glue) and loved it.

Already dismantled the carbs (that's a carburettor for the young ones), put in bigger jetting, opened the airbox for "more air", and now know how to resuscitate it if I drown it in one of the crockagator infested rivers up north - its like being back in my youth on my first 1969 Triumph - had to pull that apart a few times too but thats another story!!

Well - show my bike?? Which one??
I ride the pushies so I can stay fit enough to ride the other two boys. Occasionally try a track day also to keep head "up to speed" - but I am getting slower each year sadly.

ID:	366079 - Carbon fibre frame guards make great sense in Australia where I was getting burns on my legs from the hot frame in summer - they have heat reflector and an air gap on the inside and are a thing of beauty - but came at a cost from Japan ( go figure!!!!). These have actually been a show stopper, as I was getting really unhappy about the burns I was getting through my kevlar-lined pants.
Seat now replaced with a Sargent Seat - nice!! GPR exhaust a lightweight beauty and half the price of other "leading" brands - brought in from the Uk, but made in Italy. Had two chrome beauties on my TDM900 and they were totally brilliant - best sounding twin in my totally biased opinion - no bucket of bolts to go with the pure bellow of the TDM twin.

Don't listen to the boy from the bush, Mike. The only rideable bike I have is my 2019 GT. The ST was stolen this time last year and was recovered wrecked in November. My R1100RS and Gilera CX125 are static museum pieces at the moment, can't bring myself to flog them or find energy to restore them at this time. Anyhoo, I've spent all my vehicular budget this year buying more German fourwheelfoolishness...

Very pretty bits on the GT, mate. Looks like you did a lot of research tracking them down!

Hope to catch up some day (if we are ever allowed to exit the state again!)

    Cheers, IanA

Bill's "Worst Jokes" is still active at present as he's sent me a good few jokes which I posted. Some of the jokes are wasted on me as they have a specific US content but I've posted them to keep Bill's spirit alive until he deems to return.

Hi Flooky. The seat in the photos was apparently the Low option seat from BMW. Actually it was on another F800GT at the dealer I bought from and I asked to swap with the higher comfort seat that came with my bike - hunh? you say - well the old fairy tale about Snow White and the seven dwarfs is actually inaccurate - there were eight but I was out riding the day they did the head count!! (Actually I am about 5'7" - about 2"" shorter than when I was 20 years old). I have since replaced that seat with a Sargent Low seat and it is about perfect. I use the really low seat for track days - works a treat.

Re typo - it could have been worse and been a "speculum order"- I don't need one of those ...yet!

Thanks Ian - yes, I loved trolling through the Internet looking for bits for the F800GT - pretty much have it as I want now, although interestingly my Puig rear wheel hugger guard fractured its metal attachment this weekend and had to be removed before it ripped my tyre. Probably won't replace it as I suspect it's design might not be up to scratch. Did I say how much I loved my F800GT? ( Old Fart memory loss - well documented scientific issue).

I would have at least one more bike if I could - a small to mid sized track bike which I could thrash around without feeling worried about hurting it, and maybe also a lightweight dirt bike so I could learn how to ride that stuff a bit more easily. The DR650 is still a heavyish bike with a lot of weight higher up making to bit hard to pick-up when loaded - but just the reliable beast for the far reaches of Cape York.

You are correct - we might not get a chance to see Victorians for a while now given the borders with NSW are about to be closed. But absolutely, I will get to MotoGP in 2021 at Phillip Island - only missed two since 2009 (counting this year). maybe a catch up there?
    Cheers.

    Hi
    My name is Paul
Its several weeks since Ive been allowed to post on this forum
"Group response" Thank you Paul for your honesty
My sin was calling out a particular person for loose and abusive comments
I am still trying to understand how the individual is protected by "Moderators" for a group assault yet I was banned for pointing the individual concerned
I wish to move on and get back to the core reason of this forum which is (should be?) older people expressing their views whether they agree with main stream or not
"Group response" Welcome back Paul we trust you

Welcome back Paul. As a fellow trump dumper I appreciate your input. People whining about the political stuff in this section are like people complaining about all the sex and violence coming out of their DVR....... It reminds me of an old joke . . Guy tells his doctor that it hurts when he hits himself in the head with a hammer. Doctor says "Quit doing it." Don't like the political stuff, quit reading it.
