I once was riding my old Henna Red (orange) BMW K75c 3-cylinder at triple digit speeds up on Mount Laguna at Lake Cuyamaca on a beautiful clear day. I was crouched down behind my cockpit windscreen when I saw out of the corner of my eye a hawk high up off to the right of me. Then I saw it quickly dive down. I was completely blown away when he/she started breaking my direction and then it pulled up beside me about 7 feet away and 5 feet off the ground doing 100+ mph. I turned to look at it and it turned to look at me. I flew that day for real!

I was riding out near Brazos Bend Park. I was doing about 50mph going into a curve. All of a sudden everything went black for a second or two (seemed like five minutes) It felt like someone threw a blanket over me. When the lights came back on, I saw a buzzard on the ground behind me. I supposed what happend, was that the buzzard was on the ground eating something. When I appeared he tried to fly away. Somehow he wrapped his wings around me and covered my helmet. There was not much of an impact, but riding into a curve momentarily blind created quite a pucker factor. Also my riding gear had a nasty dead smell that required washing.

Hey, Lighning, that is such a cool experience to have on a motorcycle! I'm a pilot and often call birds, "Fellow Flyers." That was certainly the case with you on your motorcycle. You and your "fellow flyer" were sharing that special something we love...speed. Thanks for sharing that! I can just picture it.

Bless your heart! Buzzards are nasty. You definitely want to avoid hitting one, lol!

A few years ago a friend of mine got taken out by a magpie. He was doing about 100kph, bird hit him on the shoulder and despite briefly loosing grip on the handlebars, managed to keep it together. We figured the hole in his leathers was where the beak went through.

Best I've done was a sheep. Jumped in front of my RD350 many years ago. Only doing about 50kph but bent the forks and reinforced my belief in ATGATT.

    Cheers, Jack

Wow, what a crazy leap! That dear was fearing for it’s life! How did you recover at that moment? I think I might pull
    over and cry.

I yelled pretty loud. Didn't stop. Think I stopped then started the video to make it easier to find on the SD card.

If you look close you can see the deer running from a distance. I saw and was already slowing. Do not underhand why the deer would run at me to get away from me?

That is insane! I don't know why deer do stupid things like that. You were so lucky not to get hit but it's pretty awesome that you caught it on video. I hit a buck AND a doe years ago in an airplane, just as I touched down. The airplane prop got them both, sadly. But why oh why did they both have to leap in front of the airplane just as I touched down?? Crazy. That is one of my biggest fears... hitting a deer on some of these country roads I ride on. You wouldn't fare as well on a bike as you would in an airplane. So glad you weren't hit!
