When riding my Vincent along the A4 going back to camp I came up behind a light flat bed truck and was waiting to overtake it (it was dark) when i noticed a few sparks just behind it. I was puzzled as more sparks appeared around me. I pulled out as we approached some street lights and to my horror saw that reinforcing metal bars were falling off the back! I managed to stop him and we found a telephone box to call the police. How I 'threaded my way through bouncing metal bars is something I'll never understand.

As this forum brings things back to mind I realise I've had a charmed life on my bikes! Perhaps that is even more justification to stop while the going is good!

No! Nothing hit me and I don't think my wheel went over any of the bars. I still can't believe I wasn't wiped out. As I said - a charmed life!

I'd say far beyond "charmed"... I'd say from personal experiences that that's a sure-fire sign that there's a Great God who's taking care of you... and He's doing that coz He has a purpose for you somewhere along the line.

It's great that you had a chance to help that guy sort his load out. Hoping no-one else "found" those dropping, bouncing bars in an Ouch! manner.

Keep riding... It's fun, it's exciting... it's way more than a mode of transport!

While not motorcycle related I wanted to post this somewhere so I picked this thread. About a mile from my home I came across this interesting vehicle apparently belonging to a homeless surfer. Either that or a collector of surfboards.

I think He is just watching me to see what I get up to next! But sadly, due to my wife's loooooong Covid anxiety I've reluctantly stopped riding,. I've only broken one small bone in the side of my hand in 67 years riding which is a fair innings so I can't complain. To-day I dropped the hood of my 18 year old Porsche Boxster to drive home from Rydal Hall (Just North of Ambleside) for a very pleasant 40 mile drive home. At least it blew the cobwebs away and it does accelerate and hold the road well so it is fun. It used to be a great twisty road to drive at speed but now it has far too many speed limits with cameras - but not all the way......

Get on that bike and get out! Even a few feet into the snow, and a fall in the snow is better than not being able to ride!

This is said from my perspective... from a sunny South Africa.
That's what I'd do if I lived there near you guys.
Winter here is great riding time... Summer is great riding time... Anytime is great rising time!
I'm going to go get on my bike and ride... I'll ride for some of you guys too... OK???
