We're Looking For A Few Good Content Contributors!

If you think you can write something of interest to motorcycle riders, then we'd like to talk. We have a significant budget alloted this year to encourage unique articles and news reports that we will then highlight on the home page and in the forums. Our goal is to shake some quality content out, and also build a varied network of occasional contributors.

Professional writing experience isn't necessary to be selected (though it doesn't hurt), and we're most interested in writers who can create engaging news summaries and feature articles with wit and authority. Want to apply? Here's how:

    PM me with the following:
    • A wiriting example about something in the motorcycle industry. This can be a motorcycle itself, accessories, gear, or a summary of a news article.
    • A short paragraph about yourself and any experience riding motorcycles, or in the motorcycle industry. (Please note, due to legalities we can't hire minors.)
    • Tell me about how much time you can reasonably write in a week. We're looking for people who can write around a post per weekday to start, and we expect that will probably take new writers anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on your skills. If you can't commit to this, please don't submit an application. Be realistic.
    • Feel free to ask any questions you may have about the position in your application.

There have been forum posts in the past that would have definitely qualified, and the authors were not professional writers, so give it a shot and we'll help if possible. This is a paid position. We have identified three pay levels depending on the length and quality of the piece.

Thanks everyone for reading, and I look forward to speaking with you.

My vote goes for Pat H. He could write a novel on the BMW ABS system and all its "flaws".

Also, "Champers" does some fine writing :

Post 1 and Post 19 had me in stitches.

I'd say book Champers back on the Orange beast with a helmet camera riding next to Pat H. He does have style.

    Ron,

May a I respectufilly request no French or Canadian posters are employed in the above position as the Motorcycle Insight Soothsayer.

Failure to comply will result in a vote of no confidence, and we will have no other option than having you removed from office.

    Thanks

Dunny's perhaps suggesting a coalition government. How's that working out with Cameron and crowd?

Zimbabwe's Mugabe might be available to hook up to help runs things in Pittsburgh. By the way France's Sarkozy is regaining American confidence with its Libya position, so they might need to have you revisit them.

They may well be, but ask yourself this question, if it was dangerous, would the French have gone in first ?

Formerly on a Lahar Grey F800S, then after 47,000 happy miles it was traded in for a new Midnight Black F800ST, which was more or less converted back to an S. And now I'm on a brand new R1200RS, which is rather awesome! I'll still stick around if you'll have me, though, as my wife is now on the F800...

correct me if I'm wrong here boys, but Sarkozy sent his jets early.

I guess the US has the only workable jamming tech (Israel probably made it for the US hehe) & absolutely has to lead the operation, but Mirages were in early enough to gain Gaddafi's ilk as an instigator. Of course, that makes Russia upset too. Putin p*ssed his britches about this Libya thing.

I'm saying there may be a new breed. . .(hmm before he finishes this thought he remembers the youth rioting in the street months back because Sarkozy austerity measures suggested retirement age at 67 instead of 65 - and the hooligans rioted!).

How about this: France gets a 3-5% good will gesture for the lead Libya role but even that can't produce enough momentum to get them rolling. Best I can do.

french were the first to send their mirages but the only ground forces fighting in libya at the moment are the selected english forces (they are the best in the world). italians are ridicules, as always: berlusconi declared a few months ago that gaddafi is one of the best italian's friend, a couple of weeks ago the government said that gaddafi is a "criminal", then we sent the tornado... but they don't fire (yes, they fly for tourism!). I think the italian government is scared of gaddafi retaliation, economic retaliation and fighting retaliation (italy is near to libya, in the the past gaddafi missile hit easily lampedusa). I'm asking if is the safety of libyans the real reason of this war... I think it is the oil and the gas.

    A few more details:

The overall goal of what I'm looking to do is to produce content to facilitate discussion. It will be integrated with the forums (F800Riders.org, G450Riders.org, etc.) and it will be located on a stand alone blog which will be put online in the next month or so. Ideally, there will be three types of content:

    - News
    - Product Reviews
    - Feature Articles

News is pretty self explanatory. As motorcycle industry events happen, we should look to cover them in a Autoblog like fashion. A paragraph summarizing the story, maybe your personal take on it, a picture, and a link to where it originated and how you came across it. (i.e. Source: Visordown.com via Fast3r) This would be the easiest article to produce (under 10 minutes I would think) and would by far be the most common. It doesn't have to be BMW focused, as long as it's of interest to folks who come to the site.

Product reviews should be another focus. Ideally, these would be of interest to the folks that are on this site, and other non-Harley riders. These articles might be the most fun to write as they may involve free (or cheap) stuff. The expectation is that the review will happen promptly, include pictures, and cover all aspects of the product (packaging, vendor, functionality, design, quality, usability, etc.). Depending on the product, you may be needed to return it, you may be able to keep it, or you may (if you're not using it) put it in the pile to be sold off for charity. At no time will there be a cost to you for one of these. (no products, no shipping, nothing -- I'm covering that)

Feature articles are where you have an opportunity to shine. These vary greatly in scope. They can be ride reports, editorial pieces, or perhaps launches of new motorcycles. They can be single or multi part and can potentially cover months in the case of a motorcycle restore or similar. We would need to talk about these before beginning.

This is a paid position, but it's no where close to full time. You'll be a freelance writer for Motorcycle Insight, LLC. You can choose to write as much, or as little as you want. My only goal is to ensure there is enough consistant content to keep folks coming back, either from you or other writers.

We'll pay on a per article basis -- not a per word, or salaried. Additionally, there will be other sources of income here such as a cut of any advertising revenue or subscription fees. Payment will be made monthly, and done via bank issued check.

I'd be happy to discuss with anyone who is interested. We're looking for 3-4 folks who aren't named Dunny.
