I move my money all the time. That's because I keep it in my pocket. That way if I need to buy a sandwich or something, I pull out my wad and peel off a few ones, or maybe even a five.
You know, Wells Fargo is the one that just announced that they would not charge debit card fees. So now many of the others are following that too.

The dirty deed was done this morning. I no longer am on the books at Wells Fargo.

The real meaning for me behind the admittedly useless move was to have closure with the last bank dealing with Wells Fargo. My wife and I were able to pay off in lump sum the remainder of what was owed on the mortgage a while back. It was soon after our mortgage was bought from one bank to Wells Fargo. When the bank manager found out we were paying the whole sheebang off he was furious! Fuck-M and all the other bloated leeches that feed off the majority of hard working people.

My bank tried to charge me early termination fees the conversation went something like this (to the call centre):

Me: I want to pay off my mortgage
Bank: That will be $XX (some stupid amount) in early termination fees
Me: What? F**k Off: Hmmm... can I confirm I can make one lump sum payment per year?
Bank: Yes
Me: And there is no limit on that
Bank: (after a pause) correct
Me: What is the Balance?
Bank: (Whatever it was....)
Me: OK. My one lump payment is that less $1
Bank: Pardon?
Me: You heard, I'll pay the $1 over the five years I've got to go...
Bank: You are now just being stupid
Me: You started

And when I got a call from the manager and the fee just mysteriously went away....

I was talking to the School teaching daughter yesterday and she is big on the Credit Unions. She has a Summer Savings that pays a respectable interest rate compared to anything Wells Fargo offers. I need to research what I can join as a feeder from the public trough. That's retired federal employee. The only folks making money from the credit union are the members so the rates can be better.

I read in the Financial Times today about Morgan Stanley getting sued for selling $120MM in product to some professional investors in Singapore (I think) that failed almost 100% at which point MS profited from it - like they shorted their own product. This is fraud from its basis.

Being terribly unhappy with MS returns for several years and having liquidated my vast (cough) IRA holdings to cash months ago, finally decided to close my MS account completely.
Thinking to open a Roth, as taxes are unusually low this year and plan to invest into Eventide as soon as we hit 9,000. I guess the plan is take the MS check, and hold it till the market bottoms. I think I have a 90 day window to reinvest the IRA proceeds before the IRS determines I'm playing the game (forget the name of it) of short term interest plays with other people's money.
