We are leaving on Wednesday for the 44th annual StumpJumpers Desert 100 race in Odessa, Washington. I'm heading down with 2 others on F800s and one '94 BMW R100 PD. I've been looking forward to it since last years event.

    Anyone else going?

A video from last years race:

A friend of mine got his back broken in an event like this in 1965. Made a fortune in products required by the paralyzed. Still a morbid result of what should be fun.
The bikes now are so much more capable than the Ducati he rode back then.
Fun to watch but I can't imagine trying to do that any more.

Yeah, I try not to think about that when I ride or race, if I did I'd never throw a leg over a bike again. I know a few people that have dropped dead of heart attacks in their early thirties with no warning signs. I choose to live for the moment and enjoy it while I can. That been said, I ride with a healthy fear of a broken neck or punctured lung. I'm always wearing full gear and add a neck brace when I race or go on a hooligan ride with the guys.

Go for the Gonzo! These guys travel at speed over stuff I'd be crawling over in my 4X4.
May the most capable zealot win!
