"Absolutely on impeachment which will happen now thanks to better-late-than-never Mitch and finally other republicans, or after the inauguration."
Sounds good but I don't think you can count on any of those republican's to do the right thing,,.
You are very likely too right! When I wrote that I did not know MM sentiment was at least 2nd hand, but apparently some are considering the implications of not doing this going forward w/ regard to the repub party's future. I'll never forget them I know.

Noel,,, Of major consequence would be a count along the same lines as in the certification for Biden vote,,. That would take between 70 and 90 House Republican's to vote for impeachment, and would go a long ways towards the messaging, perhaps even half those numbers would be consequential and could move the needle in the Senate for further early action IMO,,.
Robert Sanford, who recently retired from the Chester Fire Department in March, was arrested on charges that include assault of a police officer, disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, civil disorder and unlawfully entering the Capitol.
A retired Pennsylvania firefighter was arrested Thursday on federal charges that he threw a fire extinguisher that hit three Capitol Police officers during the violent siege on the Capitol last week.
The charges against Sanford are not related to the widely publicized attack on Officer Brian Sicknick, who also was attacked with a fire extinguisher during the siege and died.
You have to admit Trump really brings the best out in people
I cant get over this weird collections of Mad men & Women that stormed the US Capital on the 6th,,. For all the debates on Trumpism, Trump economics, Trump Foreign Policy, Racism & the Walls he tried to build there is one success that is beyond debate,,. Trumps Legacy will always be remembered for how he unified from sea to shining sea all the mentally delusion-ed factions together under one flag,,!!
This is yet another gun-obsessed, complete Trump disciple. She was apparently tweeting Pelosi's location out during the Capitol insurrection. I hope they nail her bigtime. You can't help but marvel at 'born again Christian' identity mentioned in the Wiki article.
Sounds like that MAGAT Yabadabadoo's kind of 'christain'.
Lost all respect for the 81% of socalled 'evangelicals' whose 'spiritual wisdom' had them in full support of Trump, presumably many to the bitter end. So much for spiritual wisdom. But as said before, they live in a totally different reality so not all that surprising, just sad and worse than that, dangerous. Separate church and state, great idea. Sad for me personally because I identified w/ evangelical Christianity as a 19-20y/o having had an unsought after a powerful 'spiritual' awakening experience that changed my life--it was a sudden awareness of the presence of God, and that 'sin' was more about living w/o awareness of God's presence than specific bad deeds per se. My best friend's family were devout evangelicals, so I began becoming familiar w/ the dogma then. I always believed had I been in a culture dominated by another religion I would very likely have sought out their fellowship.
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that " my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."- Isaac Asimov

Yesterday certainly didn't have much in the way of protests from Trump supporters in spite of how the media and politicians were trying to drum up their business to add color to yesterday's events. The weird thing is that the only "protests" that I have heard about were three groups of a few hundred anti-police, anti-government and anti-Biden "protesters" each all dressed in black and carrying shields and weapons.
One group was at the capital in Sacramento, but they certainly were not Trump supporters as one MAGA guy in a pickup truck was taunting them and was chased down the street by a few of the group.
Two other mobs of "protesters" were to be found in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA. They were also all dressed in black, smashing windows and writing anti-police and anti-Biden graffiti on buildings. The group in Seattle also smashed federal court building windows and attacked the Democratic party HQ in Seattle. There was not a red hat to be found in any of the groups. Just black, including a few "Black Lives Matter" flags. So now what is going on? What do these protesters really want? And why come out yesterday during the change in the administration?

Probable actors hired by Roger Stone & Paul Manaford with some of the 300 million they scammed off the MAGA crowd,,. He has got-to pay for his pardon, as will Steve Bandon in the months to come with the moneys he scammed off the Build the Wall non-profit,,. If anyone can look at that pardon list and the crimes that they were previously convicted or indicted for without questioning what Trumpism really stands for needs to consider how any of this "drains the swamp" or makes "America Great",,!!
I just heard a report on the local CBS radio station that Trump called someone (apparently he had to make a telephone call now that his Tweet account has been locked) and said that he was thinking of starting a third political party called the Patriot Party or MAGA Party (he sure knows how to pick names) to run against the Democrats and Republicans in 2024. As you can imagine, Republicans freaked out when they heard that and now are worried about jumping on the dump Trump impeachment bandwagon. If he started a third party made up of the radical portion of the Republican party that voted for him, that would really put a stake through the heart of the Grand Old Party.

If the GOP folks want to give Trump a pass on the impeachment conviction it would be wise for the Dems to hang them out to dry on the Article 14 provision,,. Maybe they could get control of things in 2022 and right the ship or at least start the long process of de-radicalizing millions of people,,!!
Lyle, I confess to being confused by your reference to "Article 14 provision". Could you please expand and help me to understand?.
An obscure provision of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution has emerged as a possible means of preventing former President Donald Trump from holding future federal office as Congress grapples with how best to punish him for his role in the January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment states that "no person shall be a senator or representative in Congress" or "hold any office, civil or military" if they, after having taken an oath to support the Constitution, "engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."
My thought was that while there might be mutual interest for both parties to invoke this "Disability" if Trump is given a pass along party lines, however as per Richards suggestion "that it would really put a stake through the heart of the Grand Old Party." it may be more beneficial politically to the GOP to see this happen especially if they could blame it on the so called Libtards,,.
The 14th amendment. I looked up Article 14 and was referred to the constitution of India. I am aware of that section of the 14th amendment; it has been widely reported in the news recently. First though, Trump has to be found guilty of the impeachment charges before the 14th amendment section applies. If the two-thirds vote to convict can be found, the simple majority vote to invoke the 14th amendment should be simple to achieve.
The idea also has been floated of stripping Trump of his pension and Secret Service protection detail along with other perks enjoyed by former presidents. Not sure what that would take, but apparently, it is possible.
On the other hand, a Trump Library has been mentioned. Perhaps a place to store his four years' worth of 30,000+ lies and misstatements?

I heard something today about the Supreme Court dropping the emolument clause violation law suits by Trump. I wonder how they justified that? You would think that would be a slam-dunk?

Disappointing they used the excuse that he is no longer in office?
(CNN)The Justice Department's internal watchdog will investigate whether any department official sought to have the department overturn President Joe Biden's election win.
The office of Inspector General Michael Horowitz is launching "an investigation into whether any former or current DOJ official engaged in an improper attempt to have DOJ seek to alter the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election," it announced Monday.
The probe comes on the heels of reports from The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal that former President Donald Trump attempted to use his Justice Department to challenge the election results, an effort that included the possibility of Trump ousting then-acting Attorney General Jeffery Rosen.

ATLANTA — The sudden resignation of a former federal prosecutor from Georgia is now under investigation, according to a report from The Washington Post.
Byung J. “BJay” Pak announced his resignation earlier this month without giving a reason. Pak's announcement came two days after Trump appeared to refer to him as a “never-Trumper."
I don't understand the concept that once a president leaves office you can no longer try him for his federal law and Constitutional offenses. If he gets impeached by Congress I wonder what the reaction of the Supreme Court will be when he appeals his conviction to the Supreme Court?

Yes, by the looks of things, storming the Capital and chasing Congress, & Mike Pence around with a hang mans noose does not rise to the level of an impeachment conviction,,. As with the Supreme Court decision on the Emoluments cases, there is something rotten in the State of Denmark,,!!
This is looking like a game of Whac-A-Mole, every time Trump beats or delays a judgement another two legal cases pop up in its place,,.
1) The hush-money allegations, campaign-finance violations
2) The tax and bank fraud investigation, extensive criminal conduct at the Trump Organization, insurance and bank fraud.
3) The real-estate fraud investigation, extensive and protracted criminal financial practices at the Trump Organization
4) The Rape & Sexual misconduct lawsuits
5) The Mary Trump lawsuit, In it, she accuses Mr Trump and two of his siblings of cheating her out of an inheritance
6) Justice Department watchdog investigating possible attempt to overturn election results
7) Georgia investigation into election Fraud & Extortion
8) US justice department bribery inquiry into Pardons
9) Dominion Voting Systems defamation suit against Trump, his Lawyers including Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powel the Trump Campaign
10) Second impeachment of Donald Trump, the 2021 impeachment on a charge of incitement of insurrection
My newspaper had an article regarding the Supreme Court's emoluments decision. They said that the lawsuit was "moot". And there were no dissenting opinions.

Ya, I don't get that either, especially from the Supreme Court,.
So now today, all but 5 Republican Senators vote that convicting a President after he has run out the clock, (much in the same way as the Supreme court rules), is unconstitutional,,. So basically the last few weeks of a President's term he can lie and cheat and embezzle as much he wants so long as he can run out the clock?
So how would a Democracy function if everyone was treated to those same rules?
I guess it is going to be up to the various states' attorneys general to go after Trump.

IMHO,,,,,,, I think this whole impeachment thing is ill conceived, past experience has proven that it doesn't work, no president has been convicted of impeachment,,.
You cant have these Senator's and Congress people voting on conviction when they are totally compromised, the last trial didn't even call witnesses, its a sham and has the opposite effect to what was intended,.
They should have a Special Counsel investigation into the whole matter of Election Fraud/Conspiracy to Incite an Insurrection instead of muddying the facts with impeachment,,. People should be investigated at all levels, if there's pardons, they should be tested in court,,. The only ones that will be punished now are the Dum Asses that believed the "Big Lie" and followed along, it will help little to set the record strait with the public,,.
